Guliakhali Beach

Chattogram

A beach unlike any other in the country, at Muradpur on the Sitakunda coast: green grass and keora mangroves running in ridges and channels straight into the sea, boats, herons, and a wide sky. Unknown until 2014, now a protected tourism area.

Parki Beach

Chattogram

Thirteen kilometres of sand and casuarina on the Anwara side of the Karnaphuli mouth, facing Patenga across the water; quieter than the city's beach, with the port's ships on the horizon and, since 2023, the tunnel to bring you there.

Patenga Sea Beach

Chattogram

The city's beach, 14 km south at the mouth of the Karnaphuli: a long concrete-and-boulder embankment facing the Bay, ships waiting offshore, fried fish stalls and the whole of Chattogram out for the sunset.

Inani Beach

Cox's Bazar

About 27 km south of town: the beach with the coral boulders, black rocks scattered along clean sand under green hills, far quieter than the town points.

Laboni Point

Cox's Bazar

The oldest and busiest point on the beach, right below the town: the beach market, the evening crowd, the tube sellers and the first place most visitors touch the sea.

North Beach, Saint Martin's

Cox's Bazar

The northern shore near the village and the jetty: the easiest beach to reach, with fishing boats, coral flats at low tide and the hills of Myanmar on the skyline.

West Beach, Saint Martin's

Cox's Bazar

The island's long western shore, facing the open Bay: sand broken by coral rock, palms and keya behind, and the sunset straight ahead.

Beach

Kuakata Sea Beach

Patuakhali

An 18 km beach at the southern tip of the district, the one place in the country where the sun both rises from and sets into the sea in front of you.

Alexander Meghna Beach

Lakshmipur

The embankment and river beach at Alexander in Ramgati, where the Meghna is so wide it looks like the sea: a long paved walk, boats, fried hilsa stalls and the district's best sunset.

Katka and Jamtola beach

Bagerhat

The heart of the Sundarbans East sanctuary: a forest station, a watchtower over the deer meadows, and a walk through the trees to an empty beach on the Bay of Bengal.

Kochikhali

Bagerhat

The easternmost forest station of the Sundarbans, a few kilometres from Katka: a rest house, a beach where the Baleshwar meets the sea, and some of the best tiger country in the forest.
