Gangamati is the sunrise point. Motorbikes leave the town in the dark and run along the hard sand to reach it before first light; the sun climbs out of the sea straight ahead.

Behind the beach is a belt of planted coastal trees, and fishing boats work the shallows.

Getting there: East along the beach from Kuakata, by motorbike at low tide.
