About
Jashore was one of the first districts the East India Company set up, and its collector wanted an office close to the land he taxed rather than in Calcutta. The building he asked for still houses the district administration.
Seen from the Bhairab bank or lit at night, it is the picture of the old town. Inside is a working office, so visitors enjoy it from the grounds.
Getting there: In the town centre at Dhaltana, a short rickshaw ride.
Things to do
- Come at dusk when the building is lit.
Good to know
- It is a government office; ask before photographing inside.
