About

Chimbuk was the viewpoint before Nilgiri was built, and its top still has the district council rest house, a tea stall and a wide view of ridges to the south and the Sangu valley to the west. The road climbs to it in bends past jhum fields; the Mro villages along the way sell fruit at the roadside. At dawn in winter the cloud sits below here too, with fewer people than Nilgiri.

Getting there: On the Thanchi road, about an hour from town by jeep.

Things to do

  • Tea at the top and fruit from the Mro stalls on the way.

Good to know

  • Stop here on the way back from Nilgiri when the light is lower.
