About
Madhupur is one of the largest remaining blocks of the sal forest that once covered central Bangladesh. The main gate is at Rasulpur on the Tangail–Mymensingh road, beside the range office where you ask permission to walk in. Inside are trails, a resthouse area and a watchtower over the canopy; rhesus and capped langurs live here, with many birds.
Much of the old forest has been cleared for plantations and pineapple and banana farms, so the park is patchy in places. The Garo and Koch villages around it, with their own churches and markets, are part of the visit; be respectful when walking through.
Getting there: Bus from Tangail towards Mymensingh, get off at Rasulpur gate, about 1.5 hours.
Things to do
- Walk a trail from the Rasulpur gate and climb the watchtower.
- Buy pineapples at the Jalchhatra market in season.
Good to know
- Ask at the range office before entering and keep to the trails.
