About
The Pannis descend from the Afghan Karrani rulers; one of the line built the Atia mosque, and Sadat Ali Khan Panni later settled at Karatia. The family's best-known member, Wajed Ali Khan Panni, founded the Sadat College here in 1926, one of the oldest colleges in the region.
Inside the compound are the zamindar's house, a mosque and outbuildings among old trees. It is a short hop from town and easy to combine with Atia.
Getting there: About 15 minutes from Tangail town by CNG or auto towards Karatia.
Things to do
- See the palace and the family mosque inside the compound.
Good to know
- Parts of the house are private; ask at the gate before going in.
