About

The bridge runs from Bhuapur on the east bank to Sirajganj on the west. When it opened it was among the longest bridges in the world, and it remains one of the longest in the country. Over the years it has carried the names Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge and Bangabandhu Bridge.

From the west bank, the eco-park and the riverside give the best view of the span; boats go out on the river. Stopping on the bridge itself is not allowed.

Getting there: Any northbound bus from Dhaka; get off at the west end.

Things to do

  • Watch the sunset over the river from the west bank.

Good to know

  • Do not stop or take photos from a vehicle on the bridge.
