About
Ramkrishna Saha Mandal, a wealthy man from Kolkata, began the zamindari here when Nagarpur was linked to Kolkata by steamer. The three palaces were built side by side on about 15 acres, one for each branch of the family.
One building now houses a college and the others are weathered, but the façades with their columns, floral plasterwork and figures still make a striking row. Combine it with Nagarpur's Chowdhury house nearby.
Getting there: From Tangail, a CNG to Nagarpur and on to Pakutia, about an hour.
Things to do
- Photograph the three façades together from the field in front.
Good to know
- Part of it is a college; visit outside class hours or keep to the grounds.
