About
The Jadukata runs only a few dozen kilometres inside Bangladesh, winding between Barik Tila and the Shimul Bagan before it joins the haor waters. In winter it is shallow and blue-green over pale sand, with hundreds of boats collecting sand and stones; in the rains it runs fast and brown from the hills.
A boat ride on it, with the hills ahead, is the easiest way to see the border landscape.
Getting there: CNG or motorbike from Sunamganj town via Tahirpur to the Barik Tila crossing.
Things to do
- Take a boat upstream towards the hills in the afternoon light.
Good to know
- The current is strong in the rains; swim only in winter and near the bank.
