About

Barik Tila (also Barek Tila) rises right at the border, with the Khasi hills on one side and the Jadukata's wide bed of sand and stones on the other. A few dozen Indigenous families live on it. From the top the river curves away towards the haors, and boats loading sand and stone work below.

It is usually paired with the Shimul Bagan across the river and with Jadukata itself.

Getting there: Motorbike or CNG from Tahirpur, then across the Jadukata by small boat.

Things to do

  • Watch the sunset over the Jadukata from the top.

Good to know

  • Do not walk past the border pillars.
