About
Sonar Char lies far out on the coast of Rangabali upazila, east of Kuakata. Its sanctuary covers about 2,026 hectares of planted and natural forest, mudflats and beach, and it is listed as a safe zone for vultures.
Few people get here, so the beach is usually empty. Getting there takes planning: a long road and then a boat, and the trip only makes sense in the dry season.
Getting there: By road to Rangabali, then a boat to the char.
Things to do
- Walk the empty beach and the forest edge.
Good to know
- Carry food and water; there are no shops on the char.
