About
The view point is by the old dak bungalow and picnic corner above the Mahananda, which forms the border here. On a clear day the white wall of the Kanchenjunga range floats above the haze to the north-west, more than a hundred kilometres away in Sikkim and Nepal.
The best chances come at sunrise in the weeks after the monsoon. Even without the mountain, the river, the stone pickers working in it and the tea gardens around make the trip worthwhile.
Getting there: Bus from Panchagarh town to Tetulia, about an hour, then walk to the dak bungalow.
Things to do
- Be at the river bank before sunrise.
- Watch the stone collectors in the Mahananda.
Good to know
- Do not step into the river: it is the border.
