About

The forest, once the Raghunandan Hill reserve, became a national park in 2005. Marked trails of half an hour to three hours loop through tall trees and over sandy streams; a canopy tower near the entrance lets you look across the tree tops at dawn, when the western hoolock gibbons call and capped langurs and birds feed.

A Tripura village sits at the edge of the park. Walk quietly, start early, and stay on the trails.

Getting there: On the Dhaka–Sylhet highway in Chunarughat; a CNG from Shayestaganj.

Things to do

  • Climb the canopy tower at first light and listen for gibbons.
  • Walk one of the marked trails along the streams.

Good to know

  • Wear shoes that can get wet; leeches come out in the rains.
