About
The park lies in Kamalganj upazila inside the West Bhanugach reserved forest and was declared a national park in 1996. Tall trees, creepers and small streams make it one of the richest forests left in the country: hoolock gibbons call in the mornings, and capped langurs, macaques and many birds live here.
Marked trails of half an hour, one hour and three hours start near the gate. The Dhaka–Sylhet railway runs right through the forest, and walking beside the tracks is a favourite photo.
Getting there: About 8 km from Sreemangal on the Kamalganj road, by CNG.
Things to do
- Walk a marked trail early in the morning to hear the gibbons.
Good to know
- Go with a local guide for the longer trail, and keep quiet to see animals.
