About
Estates begin at the edge of town and run over low hills in every direction, with shade trees standing over clipped bushes and workers' lines in between. Mornings are best, when pickers are out with baskets on their heads.
The garden roads are open to walk on, but the estates are workplaces: stay on the paths and ask before photographing people.
Getting there: On foot or by rickshaw from Sreemangal town.
Things to do
- Walk the garden roads in the morning and finish with tea in town.
Good to know
- Carry water and a hat; there is little shade on the open slopes.
