The ruined seat of the old Bardhan rajas at Gobindaganj, a quiet group of crumbling brick buildings and ponds from the district's pre-colonial past.
At a glance
- Where
- Gobindaganj
About
Local history holds that a family of rajas ruled the area from here before the British, and that the estate later passed to zamindars. What remains are brick walls and rooms overgrown with trees, with a temple and ponds near by. Signs are few, so ask the people living around it for the stories.
Getting there: Gobindaganj is on the Dhaka–Rangpur highway, about 40 km south of town; a CNG from there.
Things to do
- Combine with Raja Virat's mound in the same upazila.
Good to know
- Do not climb the walls; they are fragile.
