About
The American architect Louis I. Kahn designed the complex in the 1960s; it was finished in 1982, after his death. Huge geometric openings cut into the walls bring light inside, and the building sits in water and wide lawns.
Most visitors see it from outside: from Manik Mia Avenue, the Crescent Lake side and the lawns, which fill with families in the evening. Visits inside are only by permission.
Getting there: Metro to Agargaon or Farmgate, then a short rickshaw ride.
Things to do
- Walk along Crescent Lake and watch the light change on the walls.
Good to know
- Photography near the gates may be stopped; keep to public paths.
