About

Hajiganj grew around the Haji family's bazar on the Dakatia, and the mosque is their monument: built from 1937 on a site the family gave, with a 150-foot minaret that is the landmark of the town, a hall for several thousand, and an alia madrasa, a library and a hafizia school around the yard. It was extended in later decades and is the biggest mosque in the district.

The bazar around it is the place for sweets.

Getting there: Hajiganj is on the Cumilla–Chandpur road, 30 minutes from Chandpur by bus or CNG; the mosque is in the bazar.

Things to do

  • Try the misti in the bazar lanes.
