About
The Jamalpur zamindars descended from Roshan Ali of the Tajpur pargana in what is now West Bengal; the estate took its name from his descendant Jamal Uddin, and the family mosque stands beside the old house. It is listed by the Department of Archaeology.
The building is still the village's mosque. Its front, domes and many small minarets carry fine floral plasterwork, best seen in the soft light of late afternoon.
Getting there: Take the Pirganj road past the airstrip to Shibganj hat, then about 3 km west by auto.
Things to do
- Look at the plasterwork on the front and the domes.
Good to know
- Avoid prayer times and dress modestly.
