About

Shah Makhdum is remembered as a saint who came to Bengal from Baghdad and settled on the river here; the city's airport is named after him. His tomb stands in a walled compound with a mosque, and visitors come all day to pray and offer respects.

It is a working shrine: dress modestly, take off your shoes where asked, and keep voices low.

Getting there: Rickshaw from the city centre towards the Padma.
