About
Historians believe Subahdar Mir Jumla built it around the middle of the 17th century to protect Dhaka and Narayanganj from pirates. A walled yard with loopholed battlements faces the river, and a large raised circular platform for artillery stands at one end.
It faces Hajiganj across the water, and the crossing by small boat is part of the fun.
Getting there: Boat across the Shitalakshya from Narayanganj town, then a rickshaw.
Things to do
- Climb the round gun platform for the river view.
Good to know
- Cross by the town ferry ghat and take a rickshaw on the Bandar side.
