About
In 1914 Kazi Rafizullah, a daroga (police sub-inspector) from the village of Kazir Shimla, brought the young Kazi Nazrul Islam to Trishal and enrolled him in class seven at the Darirampur school. Nazrul spent part of his boyhood here and was already writing poems; he would later become the national poet of Bangladesh.
Rafizullah's house, still called the Darogabari, is now one of two Nazrul Smriti Kendras set up in Trishal by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs; the other is at the Bichutia Bepari house in Namapara, by the banyan where the university now stands. It is a small, quiet place in a village in Boilor union, best combined with the school where he studied.
Getting there: In Kazir Shimla village, Boilor union, Trishal upazila, north of Trishal town.
