About

Local people founded the Darirampur High School in 1913, a tin-roofed building in those days. Nazrul was enrolled here in class seven in 1914, passed into class eight and stayed for parts of two years, writing poems all the while, though he left before the final examination.

The school was renamed Nazrul Academy in 1964 and became a government school in 2018. The two rooms he used, including the classroom he sat in, are preserved. Since 1965, before he was even named national poet, its field has hosted Trishal's celebration of his birth anniversary on 11 Jaishtha, now a state event.

Getting there: In the centre of Trishal town, on the Dhaka–Mymensingh highway.
