About
In 1971 the Pakistan Army's 93rd Brigade had its headquarters in the rest house of this campus, and orders for killings across greater Mymensingh went out from here. To remember that, the university commissioned the sculptor Shyamal Chowdhury, and Bijoy '71 (Victory '71) was finished in June 2000 at a cost of about ৳24 lakh.
On a six-foot pedestal stand three figures. In the centre a farmer raises the national flag; to his right a woman holds a rifle; to his left a student, rifle in one hand, is about to throw a grenade. Below them terracotta panels show the Language Movement of 1952, the education movement of 1962 and the Six-Point Movement of 1966. The sculpture is in the national Grade 7 art textbook.
Getting there: In front of the Zainul Abedin Auditorium on the agricultural university campus.
