About
The Gangamara stream runs over the hard rock of the Patharia hills and falls about 160 feet, becoming the Madhab stream below. An eco-park, paths and picnic spots surround it, and it is busy on holidays.
The place is also sacred to Hindus: a temple stands nearby, and a bathing fair is held here in spring. Parikunda, a second fall, is a short walk up the stream.
Getting there: By road from Kulaura or Barlekha; trains to Kulaura from Dhaka and Sylhet.
Things to do
- See the fall from the pool, then walk up to Parikunda.
Good to know
- The rocks near the pool are slippery; do not climb the fall.
