The house of the Das zamindars at Kamankhola near the town, whose estate was in Raipur: a decaying two-storey building with a temple and tank, named for the cannon (kaman) once kept there.

About

Rajendra Nath Das founded the line; when the family left after partition the house passed to others and has slowly fallen in. What remains is the main building with its arches and balcony, the family temple, a tank, and the tangle of trees that has grown over the compound. It is a short stop from the town for anyone who likes these places, and a sad one.

Getting there: CNG from Lakshmipur town, about 15 minutes.

Things to do

  • See the temple beside the house.

Good to know

  • Do not enter the upper floor.
