About
The estate was founded, by the family's account, around four centuries ago by a Roy who came from the west and acted as an agent (dalal) for the Mughal revenue, which named the bazar. The house that stands is later: a gate with a big arch and the family crest, a courtyard, the main house with columns and balconies, an iron bridge and a garden pavilion, and the Khoa Sagar dighi they dug for the village. Parts have been restored by the district, parts are still a ruin; the descendants live nearby.
It is the easiest and best-kept of the district's old houses.
Getting there: CNG from Lakshmipur town on the Raipur road, about 15 minutes.
Things to do
- Walk from the gate through the courtyard to the Khoa Sagar bank.
Good to know
- Ask the caretaker before going upstairs.
