About

Richhang (Tripura: "the place where water falls") is reached by a side road from the Alutila complex and a long flight of steps into the ravine. The water comes over a tilted slab of rock rather than dropping free, so the fall is a wide sheet with a pool and a slide polished by years of visitors sliding down it. In the monsoon it is loud and dangerous; in winter it is a trickle. October and November are the months.

Getting there: CNG from town past Alutila, then the stair; 30 minutes plus the walk.

Things to do

  • Sit under the sheet of water; the slide only if you accept a bruise.

Good to know

  • The stair back up is long; carry water. Monsoon flow is dangerous.
