About

The Ekata fishing cooperative of Kongchairi para dammed a stream and made the lake for fish; then they built bamboo huts over the water, bought boats and opened a small restaurant, and it became one of the district's favourite spots. It sits in a bowl of green hills in a Chakma village, ten minutes' walk from Bhaibonchhara bazar on the Panchhari road. Go for a boat, a plate of hill food on the deck and the quiet.

Getting there: Bus or CNG from town toward Panchhari to Bhaibonchhara (about 40 minutes), then a 10-minute walk.

Things to do

  • Take a boat round the lake and eat on the bamboo deck.

Good to know

  • Pair with Shantipur Aranya Kutir further up the Panchhari road.
