About

Toiduchhara ("the stream with the fall") lies in the hills between Dighinala and the Maini valley. There is no road: you take a guide from Dighinala or Jamtali, walk along and across the stream, and climb to the lower fall, then the upper one, which is the bigger, about 25 metres over a sloping wall of rock. It is at its best from August to October and dry by February. Leeches, slippery rock and a long walk back: go with a group and start early.

Getting there: Bus or CNG from town to Dighinala (about an hour), then on foot with a guide.

Things to do

  • Trek to both falls with a local guide and bathe below the upper one.

Good to know

  • Salt for leeches, grip shoes, water and food; tell the army checkpost where you are going.
