About

Humayun Ahmed, the most widely read Bangla novelist of his time, bought a plot on Saint Martin's in the late 1980s and built a small seaside retreat he named Samudra Bilas. After his death in 2012 it passed to his wife, Meher Afroz Shaon, who turned it into a resort.

It stands at the north end of the west beach, a short walk from the north beach. It is private property: unless you are staying there, look at it from the beach and leave the guests in peace.
