About

Chhera means "torn off": these few islets, each only a few hundred square metres, are cut off from Saint Martin's at high tide, and nothing of Bangladesh lies further south. Coral colonies grow around their rocky shores, which is why they are protected.

In the current seasons tourist visits to Chhera Dwip have been restricted or banned. Do not plan your day around it; if it is open when you are there, go only with the permission and guidance of the local administration.

Good to know

  • Never stand on or take coral here; this is the most fragile part of the reef.
