About

The Baitul Aman complex was paid for by a local businessman, S. Sarfuddin Ahmed. Past the main gate a large pond lies on the right, with the mosque on its west side and the tall minaret beside it. The grounds also hold an Eidgah that takes over twenty thousand people.

The gardens and the pond are lit in the evening, when the reflections are at their best. It is a working mosque: dress modestly and keep clear of prayer times.

Getting there: About 20 km from the city on the Dhaka–Barishal highway towards Wazirpur, by bus or CNG.

Things to do

  • Stay for dusk to see the lights on the pond.

Good to know

  • Women should bring a scarf.
