About

The estate covers about 1,500 acres of low hills, the bushes clipped flat in rows with shade trees above them. Roads cross it, so you can walk among the bushes without going far from town.

The pickers, mostly women from tea-worker families who have lived on the estates for generations, work from spring to autumn. Ask before taking anyone's photograph.

Getting there: A short CNG ride up the airport road from the city.

Things to do

  • Walk the estate roads among the bushes in the morning.

Good to know

  • It is a working estate: stay on the paths and do not pick leaves.
