About
The Sari comes down from the hills below Cherrapunji, and the minerals it carries turn its water a shade between jade and turquoise, changing from point to point. The river is shallow and winding, and a boat ride upstream toward the border passes sandbanks, tea and forest.
The colour is strongest in winter when the water is low and clear; in the rains it runs fuller and darker.
Getting there: About an hour on the Tamabil road to Sarighat, then a boat.
Things to do
- Take a boat upstream from Sarighat.
Good to know
- Combine with Jaflong on the same road.
