About
The Dhalai carries stones down from Meghalaya and drops them here, and the riverbed at Bholaganj has long been the country's largest stone quarry. Near the border the boulders lie pale and rounded in a fan of shallow, cold water under green hills.
Boats from the Bholaganj ghat take about 20 minutes to the stones. The old ropeway that carried stone to Chhatak still stands nearby.
Getting there: About 1.5 hours by CNG or car through Companiganj to the Bholaganj ghat, then a boat.
