About

The garh stands in a village named after it, Garh Dharmapal, among rice fields, with a moat-like channel along its side and a small village temple nearby. What remains is mostly raised ground and ramparts rather than walls.

It is a short, quiet stop for anyone curious about the north's early history; pair it with Harishchandra's path in the same upazila.

Getting there: From Jaldhaka by auto to Garer Hat, about 15 km; also reachable from Domar station.

Things to do

  • Walk the rampart line around the site.

Good to know

  • Ask in Garer Hat for the way; there are few signs.
