About

The Bangladesh Folk Arts and Crafts Foundation was founded in the 1970s to keep the country's village crafts alive, and Sardar Bari in Sonargaon became its home. The rooms hold nakshi kantha, pottery, wood and cane work, brass, masks and boats.

The grounds are as much the visit as the collection: lawns, ponds, a small lake and a crafts village where artisans sell their work. A fair is held here in the winter season.

Panam Nagar is a short walk away.

Getting there: Rickshaw or auto from Mograpara, about 10 minutes.

Things to do

  • See the nakshi kantha room, then buy from the crafts village.

Good to know

  • Check the weekly closing day before you go.
