The crumbling palace of the Dubalhati zamindars, about 7 km south-west of Naogaon town: tall Roman-style columns and courtyards from an estate that once reached across north Bengal.

About
The palace is about two centuries old and grew largest under Raja Harnath Roy Chowdhury. Spread over some five acres, it had hundreds of rooms around several courtyards, with a tank, temples and a school outside; the school, founded in 1864, still carries the raja's name.
Today the building is a ruin, roofless in places and overgrown, but the colonnaded front still shows how grand it was. Take care inside, as walls are unsafe.
Getting there: CNG or auto-rickshaw from Naogaon town, about 20 minutes.
Things to do
- Photograph the column front from the courtyard.
Good to know
- Do not climb the broken stairs or upper floors.
