About
The village once had four mounds; one, about 100 feet across, survives. Archaeologists who visited from the 1930s found sculpture here, including a bronze Ganesh, and later digs exposed the walls of a temple of the 8th–9th century, the same age as Paharpur.
There is not much to explain on site, but the walls are clear and the setting among village houses is pleasant. It suits anyone already at Paharpur who wants to see how wide that Buddhist world reached.
Getting there: From Badalgachhi by CNG or van; from Naogaon town about an hour.
Things to do
- Stop on the way to or from Paharpur.
Good to know
- Ask in Badalgachhi for the turn; signs are few.
