About
The Gorai branches from the Padma at Hatsharipur and flows south to join the Madhumati. It was once a major waterway; today it shrinks to sandbanks in the dry months and fills again in the rains.
The town's banks are where people come out in the evening, with boats crossing and tea stalls. The water is at its best after the monsoon.
Getting there: Walk or rickshaw to the river from anywhere in Kushtia town.
Things to do
- Take a short boat across at sunset.
Good to know
- In the dry season the channel is narrow; go after the rains for open water.
