About
The house was first built by an indigo planter and later passed to the Tagores. Rabindranath came to manage the estates and spent long stretches here and on his boat on the Padma; many poems and stories of that decade were written in this landscape.
The walled grounds of about 11 acres hold the three-storey house with its tiered roof, about fifteen rooms of photographs, furniture and his belongings, and lawns and ponds. It is a protected national monument.
Getting there: CNG or easy-bike from Kushtia town, about half an hour.
Things to do
- After the house, walk to the Padma bank nearby for the evening light.
Good to know
