About

Humayun Ahmed built Nuhash Polli as a retreat and a shooting location for his films and dramas, and planted it with a wide collection of fruit, timber and medicinal trees, many labelled. Around the grounds are his whimsical touches: a rain house, dinosaur models, a stone mermaid in the pond.

After his death in 2012 he was buried here, and readers come from all over the country, especially on his birthday in November and the anniversary in July. The estate is family-run and opens to visitors for a fee.

Getting there: From Gazipur Chowrasta, a CNG or bus to Hotapara, then an auto to Pirujali and Nuhash Polli.
