A large private amusement park at Aftabganj in Nawabganj upazila, the north's best-known picnic ground for school trips and families.

Shopnopuri spreads over lakes, gardens and lawns with rides, a mini zoo, statues and boating. Coaches of students arrive from across the country in the winter picnic season.

It is a place for a family day out rather than for history or nature. Weekdays outside the picnic season are calmer.

Getting there: Bus from Dinajpur towards Nawabganj and Aftabganj.

Things to do

Take a boat on the lake and visit the mini zoo.

December and January are packed with picnic groups.
