About

The college was set up by the district's collector of the time and still teaches thousands of students. Visitors come for the main building, a long, low colonial hall with domes and arches that mixes Indo-Saracenic and local styles, and for the open lawns and ponds around it.

It is a working college: walk the grounds quietly and keep off the classrooms during term.

Getting there: At Lalbagh in the south of the city, by rickshaw.

Things to do

  • Photograph the main building in the late afternoon light.

Good to know

  • Fridays and holidays are the quietest time to walk the campus.
