About

Opened in full in 2017, the marine drive strings the whole coast together: Himchari, Inani, Patuartek, Shamlapur, Shilkhali and Teknaf, with fishing villages, salt pans and dried-fish yards between them and the Bay on the right all the way south. Most people reserve a CNG or car for the day and stop where they like; the open-top jeeps that run from Kolatoli are the popular way.

The road itself is the attraction: a strip of tarmac between the surf and the green hills, with almost nothing built on the sea side.

Getting there: Starts at Kolatoli in town.

Things to do

  • Take an open jeep from Kolatoli and stop at every beach that looks empty.

Good to know

  • Start early; the return in the dark is slow and there is little light on the road.
