About

Growers bring their crop in baskets and on vans each morning, and wholesalers bargain right on the road before trucks carry it to Dhaka and beyond. Each variety has its weeks: early Gopalbhog, then Khirsapat and Langra, Fazli later, Ashwina at the very end.

Outside the season there is little to see. In it, come early, taste before you buy, and ask about courier services if you want a box sent home.

Getting there: On the road from Chapai Nawabganj town to Sonamasjid, about 30 minutes by bus or CNG.

Things to do

  • Taste a few varieties side by side.

Good to know

  • Mornings are busiest and coolest; ask about chemical-free fruit.
