About

The temple was founded in the early 1900s by a local devotee, Durgacharan Acharya, and the giant image inside, Shiva in his fierce Bhairab form with his dog, is what people come to see. The complex has grown around it with shrines to Kali and other deities, a bathing ghat on the Titas and a yard that fills with pilgrims on Shivaratri in February or March and for the Chaitra fair.

It is in the town's north, an easy rickshaw ride.

Getting there: Medda, in the north of the town; rickshaw from the station.

Things to do

  • Go down to the Titas ghat behind the temple.

Good to know

  • Shoes off; Shivaratri is very crowded.
