About
Monpura is cut off from the main island by the wide Meghna, which keeps it quiet. Its fields, buffalo herds and river edges are the draw, and the coastal forest planted on its chars shelters spotted deer.
The island became widely known after the 2009 film Monpura. Launches from Dhaka and boats from Bhola's Tazumuddin ghat reach it; plan to stay at least a night.
Getting there: Boat from Tazumuddin on Bhola, or a launch from Dhaka.
Things to do
- Watch the sunset over the Meghna from the island's edge.
Good to know
- Check the launch times back before you go; they are few.
