About

Dingamanik union in Naria has a Hindu ashram more than a hundred years old, known as Ram Sadhu's ashram, and every year at the end of winter a three-day fair gathers around it. The village was also home to the scholars Golok Chandra Sarbabhauma and Kali Kishore Smritiratna.

Dingamanik is the birthplace of Sri Sri Ram Thakur, born Ram Chandra Chakraborty on 2 February 1860, who became one of Bengal's best-loved saints. His followers call him Sri Kaibalyanath, Sri Sri Satyanarayan and Dayal Thakur for his kindness to people of every caste and creed. He travelled widely, ministering through famines, the world wars and the riots of Partition, and died in Noakhali on 1 May 1949. His family home and the Sri Sri Satyanarayan seva mandir stand in the village. The Kartikpur zamindar house at Hogla, in the same union, is also well known.
